Brand Image II
Every single phenomenon needs an image in order to be visible. The image can be translated into form, shape and behaviors. The functionality of the image is to make a distinction, drawing a line between item A and B; to help the observer with his senses, to show that the things can be uniquely identified. Sometimes this image goes with the nature of the object and in many cases it is only skin deep. These days the possible incongruity of the image and the functionality of the object is a well-known topic - it is a part of the public culture now; thanks to the mass media and the vast coverage of the psychological themes among individuals. That made the "image-thing" a familiar vocabulary; no need to repeat the definition once used in a daily conversation. When people talk about the image of something; they usually refer to the incompatibility of face and essence.
How is the image created? It is simply shaped by the repetition of an event/behavior in a certain environment. Dog is man’s best friend in Western hemisphere and man’s best food in Korea [not welcomed these days though]; mouse is evil in Iran, while it is respected in India. Chinese wear white for mourning, whereas for most other people black is the color of death.
