If I were democrat, how could I have ever justified my inclination towards "Brand Names"? .... I have met many who detest brands, and choose to buy no name things ... if you ever shopped at a huge supermarket in North America, you definitely noticed that "No Name" has just become another brand for itself .... The "No Name" packages all have the same design (those that I have seen were all yellow) and have the same logo, they have the toll-free contact number for complains, and they all have expiry date stamps ... What is the difference then? The price? Then "No Name" is a cheap brand, customized and targeted for a segment of the market... nothing more ... nothing less ...
Many years ago I met a Saffron trader, he had put his family name on the package; the same thing that you see on Gaz from Esfahan or Pashmak from Yazd. He had a good reason, he was claiming that he can not endanger his family name, because firstly it belongs to the whole relatives and secondly he can not change it, as it is the case with other trade names... so he has to watch the quality of whatever carries his name ... this is the essence of brand name, you just simply trust the name, you don't need the research to make sure about the quality ... and for sure that has a cost you are willing to pay ....
Let me give you another example ... Just imagine you go shopping in the imaginary Air-Line Supermarket ... you can see different products on the shelf of Tehran-Paris .. they are namely Air-France at 650k tomans ... Iran-Air at 500k tomans and Afghan-Air at 400k tomans ... let's also assume that No-Name Airline is on the shelf, it doesn't have a package (history and liability), it doesn’t have contact number, and you are the first one taking it ... how much are you ready to pay for that? 250k? 100k? That was an extreme paradigm since your life is concerned, but this clearly shows the importance of brand name and the accountability it brings ...
It doesn’t necessarily means that you should cling to one name all the time, you may find the better taste of coffee and the higher level of the service at a corner family coffee shop, but they have not done anything but to create the image of a good personal business .. a personal brand name. I can still remember the taste of the coffee I used to buy at the corner of Robson and Thurlow ..... and that was just terrefic ....
